NEXT AUDITIONS ONLINE FOR EMMA: A POP MUSICAL!

Fauquier Community Theatre invites youth ages 14 – 23 to audition for Emma: A Pop Musical Stay-at-Home Edition. The production will be rehearsed, produced, and presented online. Then the final show will be streamed in spring/summer 2021. For more information and to submit audition materials no later than Sunday, March 14 at 7 pm, click on Emma Auditions.   Synopsis: Emma, a senior at Highbury Prep, is certain she knows what’s best for her classmates’ love lives, and is determined to find the perfect boyfriend for shy sophomore Harriet by the end of the school year. But will Emma’s relentless matchmaking get in the way of finding her own happiness? Based on Jane Austen’s classic novel, this sparkling new musical features the hit songs of legendary girl groups and iconic female singers from The Supremes to Katy Perry. Girl power has never sounded so good!

General Information for Auditioning at Fauquier Community Theatre

  • Auditioning for a show is exciting! Just remember that the directors all want you to do your best and succeed. We try our best to make the experience fun and a time to meet new people. But there are things that you should know. Each director for each show may need to see and hear things in a different manner. This means that you should check the audition announcement carefully.
  • For a straight (non-musical) play you will probably be asked to do cold readings from the script. Occasionally, you may be asked to prepare a short monologue to perform.
  • For a musical, you will be given some specific information about selecting and performing your audition song. You may be given a type of song to perform, a way to perform (with or without accompaniment or tracks), and a time to audition depending on your age range. You will generally be asked to learn a short dance routine with a group to perform at auditions.
  • The audition form and sometimes a rehearsal schedule is generally available online. These should be available online to fill out and need to be completed prior to auditions. Sometimes, the audition process will be by online submissions, with callbacks on Zoom or in person.
